They're Off! Fluttering starter's flag gets drag race off to roaring start during meet held by British Columbia Custom Car Association at Abbotsford, B.C., airport. Custom Car Association, first "hot rod" club organized in Canada, was formed in Vancouver in 1951. Today, the Association has 250 members actively engaged in promoting "hot rodding" as a safe and sane sport. Safety-conscious members, who have full support of city police force, pride themselves on their careful driving and external and mechanical perfection of their cars. Reckless drivers are contemptuously termed "squirrels" by members.
