During September and October the doors of Canada's mineral industry will be opened to delegates from 30 countries attending the 6th Commonwealth Mining and Metallurgical Congress. Here they will see the great development which has taken place since the Congress last met in 1927. In the interim, the Canadian mineral industry has grown beyond all expectations. In 1956 the value of Canada's mineral production soared over the two billion mark.

A pipeline system, which covers over 18,000 miles of Canada carries oil and natural gas to thousands of Canadian industries and homes. The completion of the Trans-Canada and Westcoast Transmission pipelines will bring natural gas to six provinces and every major centre between Vancouver and Montreal. Hand in hand with pipeline development goes the continued buildup of gas and oil reserves.
