Less than a decade ago Brother Vincent went out from the Order of St. Gabriel in Montreal with the dream of founding in far-away Singapore a "Monument to the Youth of Malaya" -- a Boys' Town where abandoned, underprivileged and "problem" boys of every race, colour and creed would have a home, a school and a place to call their own. Today the dream has flowered into a thriving cosmopolitan town where Malayan, Chinese and Indian boys live and grow in an atmosphere of cheerful goodwill and cooperation.

The carpentry class is under the supervision of Brother Henry of France. Here are built most of the cabinets, desks and chairs required in the school and dormitories. When a boy is ready to graduate every effort is made to help him find suitable employment; many are permitted to continue living in Boys' Town until they feel ready to move out into that larger world from which the Town first gave them shelter.
