Main Text
The polar bear, once symbolic of the vast untamed and unexplored ice-locked reaches of the North, is no longer King of the Arctic; today the man of science, aided by the Eskimo's intimate knowledge of survival in a climate where every day is a fresh challenge, is emerging as the new master of the North. To carry these men and their intricate scientific equipment to the task at hand, d'lberville and her convoy of supply ships, will this year, as in years past, lend her superior strength, her speed and her endurance.
