Granite, one of the finest and most permanent of building stones, is found in almost every province in Canada. The Stanstead district of Quebec is one of the most important granite producing areas of the country and its quarries hum from dawn to dusk, turning out stone for the many new buildings and bridges being constructed from coast to coast. Above, foreman Tom Archer directs placing of 40 ton block by hoist.
