Main Text
Each dog serves about 9 years with the Force and during that time it obeys and is handled by one dog master who is a trained member of the RCMP and a volunteer for this type of duty. The dog is taught, groomed, exercised and fed by his master and they operate as a team. Dogs are bred and trained at the Mounties' division at Sydney, Nova Scotia. Each dog and his master must undergo annual refresher courses.
