Passamaquoddy Bay, off New Brunswick's south shore, harbours one of the world's richest feeding grounds for the tiny, tasty herring known to the trade as "sardines". The famous Fundy tides have made it possible to capture these dainty fish in such abundance that picturesque Charlotte county in the southwest corner of the province claims the distinction of having the largest sardine canning plant in the British Commonwealth.
