The outports in Newfoundland's St. Barbe district can frequently only be reached by water. They are, in general, fishing villages or, further south near Corner Brook (where Jack White acts as second magistrate), lumbering communities. Above, boys in a small outport await the arrival by motorboat of Magistrate White and Cst. Newcombe.
