Main Text
In 25 years of recording the country's growth and development, the National Film Board of Canada has become a source of entertaining information for millions of people in 100 countries around the world. In Canada, NFB films average more than 1,000 daily showings with an additional 50 TV and theatrical screenings per day. Abroad, the demand for Canadian films breaks new records as commercial bookings increase and film showing facilities grow in number. In a vast and varied land the motion-picture subjects range accordingly, from Drylanders, a saga of settlement in Saskatchewan, to Stephen Leacock's My Financial Career as a humorous cartoon, from an awe-inspiring spectacle of modern astronomy, Universe, to Lonely Boy, a penetrating look at Ottawa-born Paul Anka's success in show business, from Fields of Sacrifice to the TV series Temps Présent, from films on pure science to emotional teenagers, from Canadian poetry visually interpreted to experimental films and off-beat techniques, from the obvious to the subtle --NFB films present an arresting array of creative ideas and documentary realism.
