Main Text
Riding high on the crest of the road which leads to the far corners of the space-age world of modern industry and exploration is a unique Canadian enterprise that supplies the men on the job with their basic requirement - a place to live. To the bitter, relentless cold of Antarctica, to the searing sands of the Sahara, to the Yukon, to Turkey, Hawaii, Australia and Nigeria, to just about any place where teams of technologists, researchers, constructors and explorers are engaged on today's varied projects, go the complex pre-built industrial housing products of Calgary's ATCO Industries. Sprung from a trailer-making business and given initial fast growth by Canada's soaring oil industry, this venture into the world of the future has become a massive and rapid producer of transportable townsite and settlement facilities - including laboratories, schools, banks and churches - which house the crews of scientific research stations, dam sites, oil fields and construction projects of the nations of the world.
