Rising up to meet the nation's future heavy demands for scientists, engineers, administrators and other professionals is one of Canada's newest halls of learning, Scarborough College. Part of the University of Toronto, this new college takes its bold shape from a striking departure in the field of architecture which has produced an extremely functional complex of laboratories and lecture rooms to provide students with the all-important general education courses - essential groundwork for future specialization. Equipped with the most modern teaching equipment, the new college is designed to enable most instruction to be given on a small-group basis. With a 200-acre campus just 20 miles from the center of Toronto, this space-age college already plans future extensions for 5,000 students, is already busy on the task of ensuring Canada's prominence during the greatest explosion of knowledge the world has ever known.
