Main Text
The carillon of the Peace Tower has 53 bells. The largest one weighs 22,400 pounds and is pitched to "E", while the smallest weighs 10 pounds and is pitched to "A", four and a half octaves above. The carillon must be cleaned twice a year and the carillonneur, himself, supervises all the work. The carillon was installed in 1927, to mark the 60th anniversary of Confederation and to commemorate the peace of 1918.
