Veteran blacksmith Harper Rennick, 56, stands before shop established in Shawville, P.Q. by his father, John Rennick, in 1914. Young Harper left school at the age of seventeen to carry on in his father's trade. Much of the equipment still in use in the forge was originally brought from Ireland by the senior Rennick.
